Around Aldona- What to do?

I travelled to Aldona in Goa and stayed in Cancio's house.
On my 2nd day, feeling filled with relaxation, I ventured out and discovered you can do a lot around Aldona!

GO TO THE MORJIM BEACH

"This is it, I thought! I can die here."
What a beautiful, quiet and decent beach. Sprawled on a lounge with my beer, all I could do was stare at the changing colours of the landscape.
Far away from the noisy and @#$%^ south Goa tourist only beaches, this was a respite.
No ogling, no catcalling....just people enjoying the waters!

Fishermen getting ready for morning!

Just love the waters

The shacks

Cheers to life!

VISIT THE ARAVELAM CAVES

The caretaker said, "who knows who built them?! Maybe the Buddhists used them to stay. Then the Hindus placed the idols. People say the Pandavas built them...but who knows?"

The stone of the caves in interesting. Laterite

Shiv Lingam

The fun part is climbing atop the caves!!

Atop the caves

VISIT THE HARVELAM WATERFALLS

Surprisingly, the area of the waterfalls not only has a temple, but also a 'mokshdham', where the hindus come for 'asthi visarjan'. Very quiet corner of the place.

Spend some time here. Soak in the beauty. Have a cuppa tea. Watch the brave swimmers...:)

 THE CORJUEM FORT RUINS

Small and I thought maybe spend 3 minutes...but the design of the fort and the view made me stay for about half an hour! The fortification is strong enough to walk on and the ruins are reasonably well kept.

MAPUSA MARKET
A true sensorial delight, Mapusa market is where one can wander and buy stuff occasionally.

A big delight was the stall with homemade Goan sweets, mostly Vegan!

The bread disappeared fast!

The pure delight of breathing in flower fragrance!

Inside the municipal market, the jaggery seller!

Wow...the pottery hobnobs!
